A Russian court has rejected a lawsuit by Lyudmila Navalnaya, the mother of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny, over improper medical care, according to a former ally of the Putin critic. 

The court – in the city of Labytnangi – rejected the claim today, Ivan Zhdanov said. 

Alexei Navalny, Vladimir Putin’s most prominent domestic
opponent, died last month, aged 47, in an Arctic penal colony in controversial circumstances.
