Two people are injured after Russia launched a three-and-a-half-hour drone attack on the southern parts of the Odesa region today and hit Danube River port infrastructure, Ukrainian officials have said.
Ukraine’s air defence systems shot down 22 of the 25 Iranian-made Shahed drones that Russia launched on the Odesa region in the early hours, the Air Force said on the Telegram messaging app.
“Russian terrorists continue to attack port infrastructure in the hope of provoking a food crisis and famine in the world,” Andriy Yermak, the Ukrainian president’s chief of staff, wrote on Telegram.
Ukraine’s south military command said on social media at least two civilians were injured in the attack on what it said was the “civil infrastructure of the Danube”.
Officials did not give details of which port facility was hit.
But the military said a fire that resulted from the attack at the facility was quickly extinguished.
Air strike on high rise building kills two
A Russian air strike on a high rise residential building has killed a married couple, according to the Donetsk regional prosecutor’s office.
Ukraine has opened a war crimes investigation into the attack on Vuhledar, which left the couple’s 19-year-old daughter and another resident, 53, injured.
Explosions destroyed the entrance to the building, and damaged windows and balconies.
