Mary J. Blige and husband Martin “Kendu” Isaacs are reportedly fed up with their marriage and are heading for divorce. The RnB singer cited irreconcilable differences as reason for the split.
In December 2003, the popular “No More Drama” singer wedded Issacs who has also been her long time friend and manager. The ceremony was held in Bergen County, N.J.
Reports from TMZ say 45-year-old Blige who filed for the legal separation, listed her divorce date as “yet to be determined”.
According to the report, there’s no information on whether the couple had a prenup before marriage but the exposed court document shows Blige has asked that Issacs be denied a chance for spousal support.
The “Be Without You” singer and hubby share no children, although he’s dad to three kids from previous relationships.

Blige had discussed the pros and cons of marrying her manager in an interview with the Telegraph in 2014, saying: “He always has my back — he’s going to fight to the death for Mary J. Blige.
“The downside is that there’s no separation — it’s on all the time. When you don’t feel like answering to your manager, he’s still your husband.”
“If one of you doesn’t want to talk about something right now, you have to respect that,” the singer explained
“And you have to respect each other’s space.”
Blige is said to have “famously” banned Isaacs from keeping female friends.
In her words: “All females for me, all guys for him. There’s none of that, ‘Oh, that’s my female friend. Oh, that’s my guy friend.’ No. Not in a marriage, I’ve never seen that work.”
A rep for Blige reveals, “Ms. Blige is saddened to say it is true that she has filed for divorce saying sometimes things don’t work how we hoped they would… but, there is a divine plan and a reason for everything.
“Mary will continue writing & working on her album which is due out later this year along with her world tour.
“She thanks and appreciates her fans for their support and love through this very difficult emotional time.”
