Real Madrid’s appeal against Rodrygo Goes’ red card has been turned down, ruling the Brazilian attacker out of Sunday’s visit from Barcelona.
Rodygo will not be available for the Clasico after getting sent off for Real Madrid Castilla last weekend. He was booked twice in the reserve team game.
Madrid appealed the dismissal but, on Wednesday, the Competition Committee rejected their argument and confirmed that his one-game ban would stand.
Therefore, he cannot play for any Madrid team this weekend: not the first team against Barça nor for Castilla in their third division game.
He will have to wait until, at least, March 8 to feature for the first team again when Zinedine Zidane’s side travel to Real Betis in La Liga.
However, given recent events and the fact he played for Castilla last weekend, it’s not out of the question that he continues with Raul’s team after he serves his ban.
Rodrygo has gone from being a regular in Madrid’s squad to playing more of a bit part. He’s played just 14 minutes for the first team in February (against Real Sociedad in the Copa del Rey). He has not been called up for a single league game this month.
