Real Madrid announced the signing of former Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate on Thursday, its second acquisition in as many days.
The 27-year-old France international joins on a free transfer after allowing his contract with Liverpool to expire. He has signed a deal that will keep him at the Spanish club until June 2030.
Konate arrives to reinforce a defense that has undergone significant changes this summer following the departures of David Alaba and Dani Carvajal.
Real Madrid also faces injury concerns, with Ferland Mendy and Eder Militao both expected to miss the start of the new season. The club received a boost earlier this week when Antonio Rudiger signed a one-year contract extension.
Madrid is also reportedly close to completing a deal for Inter Milan wingback Denzel Dumfries, although a transfer fee would be required in that case.
