Rakitic joins Hajduk Split after leaving Al Shabab

Former Croatia midfielder Ivan Rakitic has joined Hajduk Split after Saudi Pro League club Al Shabab terminated his contract by mutual consent following a six-month spell.

The 36-year-old scored once in eight games after joining Al Shabab in January 2024 as they finished eighth on 52 points.

Rakitic, who was born in Switzerland, scored 15 goals in 106 games for Croatia and helped his country reach the World Cup final in 2018.

Villa winger Diaby edging closer to Al Ittihad move

Aston Villa are close to agreeing a deal to sell winger Moussa Diaby to Saudi Arabian side Al Ittihad.

The fee is reported to be around £50.5m with Diaby set to sign a five-year contract.

Al Ittihad are keen to bring in the 25-year-old following the arrival of Roma midfielder Houssem Aouar.
