Spanish professional golfer, Jon Rahm has become the highest-paid sportsman in the world, beating the likes of Al-Nassr’s Cristiano Ronaldo and Inter Miami’s Lionel Messi, according to Forbes.

This comes after he signed a record deal with LIV Golf worth more than $300million.

Here is the top five highest-paid athletes in 2023:

1. Jon Rahm (Golf) – $300m

2. Cristiano Ronaldo (Football)- $136m

3. Lionel Messi (Football) – $130m

4. Kylian Mbappe (Football) – $120m

5. LeBron James (Basketball) – $119.5m

Rahm has played a defining role alongside Rory McIlroy in helping Europe regain the Ryder Cup this year.

However, his eligibility to play in 2025 will now be thrown into jeopardy.

The 29-year-old will also earn more than four times as much as Messi and Paris Saint-Germain’s Kylian Mbappe who have signed bumper contracts with their respective club sides.
