PhD Research Openings at North Carolina State University – Electrical & Computer Engineering

Hi everyone, I’m excited to share that I will be joining North Carolina State University as an Associate Professor in the Electrical & Computer Engineering Department starting January 2025.

My research group (https://lnkd.in/g9SfJztW) will be multidisciplinary and aims to advance integrated photonics in computational, communication, and sensing systems research – this entails exploring novel heterogeneous semiconductor photonic devices, large-scale photonic integrated circuits, architectures/algorithms, and developing a deeper understanding of neuromorphic/quantum inspired computation that lies close to nature.

I am currently searching for passionate/talented/motivated PhD students and scholars to come join us in pushing the state-of-the-art in integrated photonics. If interested please contact me at scheung3@ncsu.edu with your CV and transcripts.

You will have access to the NCSU NNF cleanroom (https://nnf.ncsu.edu/) and resources spread across the Research Triangle NanoTechnology Network (https://rtnn.ncsu.edu/).

Furthermore, NC State hosts one of the eight Microelectronics Commons innovation hubs (https://claws.ncsu.edu/) with exciting opportunities in III-N photonics/electronics.
