Pele of Brazil sends lovely messages to Kylian Mbappe

Pele excitedly joined in the 2018 FIFA World Cup celebrations with a congratulatory message to France international footballer Kylian Mbappe, who scored a goal against Croatia at the finals and was awarded the tournament’s Young Player Award for his exploits.

“Only the second teenager to have scored a goal in a #WorldCupFinal!” Pele tweeted after Mbappe scored France’s fourth goal against Croatia.

“Welcome to the club, @Mbappe – it’s great to have some company!” The Brazilian football legend said to his beloved 19-year-old Paris Saint-Germain youngster who plays alongside Uruguayan striker Edison Cavani and Brazil’s Neymar Jr.

Security was beefed up around major cities in France to avert violence during the World Cup finals.

With this 4-2 routing of Croatia, a total of 169 goals were scored in the 2018 World Cup, two less than a record 171 from the 1998 and 2014 editions.

The average number of goals per game at Russia 2018 was 2.64.

Football pundits adjudged the 2018 global football tournament to be the most thrilling final since England’s memorable 4-2 victory against West Germany after extra time in 1966.

Thibaut Courtois was named Best Goalkeeper at the World Cup. Belgium finished as the World Cup’s highest-scoring team, having netted 16 goals from 10 different players.

Croatian midfielder Luka Modric was named the tournament’s Best Player. He got the Golden Ball while England’s Harry Kane took home the Golden Boot for his 6 goals although three of those were from spot kicks.

Kylian Mbappe, the 2018 World Cup break-out star, definitely has the world ahead of him since arriving PSG on loan from Lyon. The Parisian club is set to sign him for a whopping $211m this summer, Quartz reported.

“If Kylian keeps equaling my records like this I may have to dust my boots off again…,” Pele added.
