An Israeli minister has called the establishment of a Palestinian state “a reward for terrorism”.
Eli Cohen said such a state would be a “danger to the State of Israel”.
The energy minister said on X: “This will encourage the murder of Jews and give support to Iran’s axis of evil.”
His controversial remarks came after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu rejected US calls for the development of a Palestinian state.
Earlier, President Joe Biden said a path to an independent Palestinian state is possible.
There were a number of two-state solutions, among them a non-militarised government like some UN members, he suggested.
Asked if a two-state solution was impossible while Mr Netanyahu was still in office, Mr Biden said, “No, it’s not.”
