The Palestinian Authority says Israel has committed a “massacre” in Rafah and Benjamin Netanyahu is focused only on “revenge not victory”.
The authority’s foreign affairs ministry said in a statement that it condemns “in the strongest possible terms” what it describes as “mass massacres” of Palestinians in the region.
“The occupation massacre in Rafah is evidence of the validity of the warnings about the catastrophic dangers of its invasion,” the statement said.
“Netanyahu commits mass massacres with a mentality of revenge, not victory, and in accordance with international law, as he claims.”
The ministry accused Israel of trying to “transfer the war” to Rafah in an effort to push Palestinians who are sheltering there to “emigrate and spiral into displacement”.
“Israel does not care about the lives of Palestinian civilians and considers them collateral victims,” it said.
