President Trump and the American First Lady, Melania, are on the case—the A$AP Rocky case.
The rapper, whose detention in Sweden caused an uproar last week, was on Friday ordered to be held at least until July 25, NBC News reports. He was first arrested July 2 after an alleged street fight.
But Trump says he’s going to personally intervene.
“Just spoke to @KanyeWest about his friend A$AP Rocky’s incarceration,” Trump tweeted Friday. “I will be calling the very talented Prime Minister of Sweden to see what we can do about helping A$AP Rocky. So many people would like to see this quickly resolved!”
Kanye’s wife was also apparently involved. A senior administration official tells the AP Kim Kardashian West spoke to Jared Kushner about the situation, and Kushner in turn told Trump, who told Mike Pompeo to see what could be done. Indeed, Kardashian West tweeted Thursday, “Thank you @realDonaldTrump, @SecPompeo, Jared Kushner & everyone involved.”
Thank you @realDonaldTrump , @SecPompeo, Jared Kushner & everyone involved with the efforts to Free ASAP Rocky & his two friends. Your commitment to justice reform is so appreciated 🙏🏼🤞🏼 https://t.co/Ym1Rzo5Z6c

Trump also gave credit to his own wife when he spoke about the issue in the Oval Office Friday.
“Actually, the one who knew about A$AP Rocky was our first lady. She was telling me about, ‘Can you help A$AP Rocky?'” Mr. President said. “Many, many members of the African American community have called me, friends of mine, and said, ‘Can you help?’ … So, I personally don’t know A$AP Rocky, but I can tell you that he has tremendous support from the African American community in this country and when I say African American I think I can really say from everybody in the country because we’re all one.” Melania Trump added that the State Department would be working to get the rapper home.
Per the Guardian, Trump said “we’ve already started” talks with Swedish officials.
Several members of Congress have also been calling for A$AP Rocky’s release, per the Washington Post.
