Mbappe and Haaland setting Real Madrid and Barcelona on fire

Real Madrid are playing with fire.

Florentino Perez has a lot of money and it’s his dream to create a new team of Galacticos. He needs stars for the remodeled Bernabeu. The problem is he wants lots. As he did in the era of Figo, Beckham, Raúl, Ronaldo, Zidane… And he’s looking to bring two of the game’s biggest talents together: Mbappe and Haaland.

Financially it is possible but maybe not structurally. It’s as if Messi and Ronaldo, in their best years, had to play with each other. Possible, yes. But difficult to manage. The egos, personal interests, comparisons…

Perez would do well to remember how the lack of control in the first Galactico era ended with his resignation. With Mbappe and Haaland, in fact, the problems have already started before either player has even signed.

Mbappe’s sent a message to the Madrid president through L’Equipe. The French newspaper reported this week that Barcelona had made a move for the Paris Saint-Germain forward and that he was receptive.

Not true, however. The Blaugrana are now interested in entering the battle for Mbappe and have not made any move.

The news is, without doubt, of service to the player and his camp to warn Perez: Mbappe wants to be the leader at Madrid and not sure media space and football space with Haaland. It’s similar to what’s been repeated from Haaland’s camp in recent months: he doesn’t want to be second at his club because he wants to be No.1 in the world.

Perez, therefore, will have to be careful. Because he runs the risk of upsetting two players before signing them. He must pick one. And everything suggests it will be Mbappe, who is already tied down.

Haaland won’t fit in the same team and his destiny will be between Manchester City (who will pay more money) or Barça (who offer a more exciting project).

Barça president Joan Laporta won’t throw in the towel on the Norway striker, although he’s exploring alternatives. Lewandowski and Salah are options. The transfer market promises to be as intense as ever this summer.

L’Equipe’s story about Barcelona’s interest in Kylian Mbappe came as a surprise. The French newspaper say that the forward is no longer weighing up his options between Real Madrid and PSG but also the Catalans.

However Barcelona say that information is not true and that they have not contacted the player or his people. In fact they are annoyed by the story.

The Catalans think that the story comes from Mbappe and his agents to pressure Real Madrid into not signing Erling Haaland, as he wants to lead the project.

Mbappe is leaving PSG to go somewhere he will not have to share the limelight with Messi and Neymar.
