Erling Haaland admits Riyad Mahrez tried to convince him to join Manchester City when the pair were on holiday last year in Greece.
Haaland completed his £51m move from Borussia Dortmund earlier today, and will be linking up with Mahrez next season.
“He told me to come to City and he was right about that,” Haaland told Man City’s website in his first interview since joining the club.
“We talked and he said some good things about the club.”
When they were pictured on holiday, City fans were begging Mahrez to help bring Haaland to City.
At the time, Mahrez joked that he was playing ‘agent’ but quickly dismissed those suggestions.
But he has appeared to confirm Haaland’s comments from earlier today in a post on Twitter.

Manchester United are continuing to keep communication open with other midfield targets as they hold talks with Barcelona over a deal for Frenkie de Jong, reports The Manchester Evening News.
But the two clubs are some way apart in their valuation of the Dutch midfielder, the report claims.
United are said to be adamant they won’t overpay for De Jong and are reportedly ready to move on to other targets if they continue to be frustrated.
The report adds that United have held talks with the representatives of potential alternatives.
