Following this morning’s farewell press conference at Camp Nou, FC Barcelona president Joan Laporta has posted a personal message to Leo Messi on Twitter and Instagram.
The message read as follows: “I wish you @leomessi, and your family, all the best. The doors at Barça will always be open for you. Thank you for everything, Leo!”
Laporta’s message suggests that Leo Messi will return to Camp Nou in some capacity once he hangs up his boots. This is something that Messi himself alluded to during this morning’s press conference.
Last night, Leo Messi held a farewell dinner in his house. Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba were the first to arrive. ‘Busi’ had already visited Messi on Friday, the day after Barça announced he would be leaving the club. Gerard Pique and his partner Shakira arrived shortly after.
Next to arrive was his close friend Sergio Aguero, who agreed to take a significant wage cut to join Barça in order to play alongside Leo Messi, but it wasn’t to be.
Travelling in the same car as Aguero was YouTuber Ibai Llanos, who has developed a good friendship with Messi and various figures in the Barça dressing room.
