Lampard: Mikel Arteta won’t survive at Chelsea

Former Chelsea coach, Frank Lampard has asserted that Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta would have been sacked if he had gone through a similar situation as the Blues’ manager.

Arteta had no prior coaching experience at the highest level until he was offered the chance to lead his former club.

Two eighth-place finishes later, Arteta is now finding his feet and seems to be building a team to match his vision.

Lampard highlighted the difficulty modern managers face when trying to implement their plans and how little time they are given to prove their worth in the dugout.

During a recent interview on the Unfiltered Podcast, Lampard said: “I think Arteta is a great example. Look at the tough times he had.

“He was trying to find a formation and he had to compromise a lot and you lose some games and people don’t trust the process.

“Arteta is a fantastic coach, we are seeing that now, but if he was managing at Chelsea, he would not have made it through that period.”

One response to “Lampard: Mikel Arteta won’t survive at Chelsea”

  1. Football coaching isn’t child’s play. But there’s a bit of luck involved because even the world’s best coaches lose games and trophies. Arteta might survive elsewhere. It’s a matter of time and chance as well as luck. Chelsea was there before him. If he failed there, his career hasn’t ended.
