Kremlin confirms Tucker Carlson’s interview with Putin has taken place

Vladimir Putin has been interviewed by the controversial right-wing US journalist Tucker Carlson, the Kremlin has confirmed.

Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the interview took place yesterday.

“Putin’s interview with Carlson will be published when the journalist himself is ready to publish it,” Russian state media outlet TASS said.

Mr Peskov also noted that Mr Carlson does not “advocate” for Russia, but his position “differs” from that of much of the Western media, which does not try to appear objective.

It is the first time Mr Putin has been interviewed by Western media since the invasion of Ukraine.

Goal of ‘special military operation’ unchanged, Kremlin says

More from that Kremlin briefing to bring you now.

The goal of Russia’s “special military operation” in Ukraine remains unchanged, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has said.

He was asked if the aims of Moscow had changed as the two-year anniversary of the invasion approaches.

He said saving lives and ensuring the security of the Russian Federation against the backdrop of attempts to “suck Ukraine into NATO” are among the chief goals.
