Late Michael Jackson’s sister, Janet Jackson is pregnant with her first child at the age of 49.
The pregnancy was the reason why she postponed the second leg of her ‘Unbreakable World Tour last month. The tour continues in 2017. A statement was released to assuage angry fans: “The Janet Jackson Unbreakable tour in North America will be postponed until 2017,” a rep for Live Nation exclusively tells Us Weekly.
“New dates will be announced at a later time, and tickets will be honored for the rescheduled dates. Refunds are also available at the point of purchase. Stay tuned to JanetJackson.com and LiveNation.com for further info.”
The American pop singer who turns 50 on May 16, revealed to her fans that she was planning for a family with her billionaire husband Wissam Al Mana. The couple reportedly have houses in three countries.
She explained in the video message: “Hey, you guys. On August 31, as you probably know, I launched the Unbreakable World Tour. First, I just want to thank all the fans for coming out and seeing the show … We’re in the second leg of the tour, and there has actually been a sudden change. I thought it was important that you would be the first to know: My husband and I are planning our family, so I’m going to have to delay the tour.”
“Please, if you could try and understand that it’s important that I do this now. I have to rest up, doctor’s orders. But I have not forgotten about you. I will continue the tour as soon as I possibly can,” she added.
Janet made the announcement on Twitter in April.
Though many would-be concertgoers expressed their frustrations immediately on Twitter, Janet was still full of appreciation for all. The singer ended her brief video message with an expression of gratitude to all those involved with her tour. She also shouted out a special thanks to loyal fans.
“Once again, thank you to all the fans for your love — your undying love — and your loyalty,”she said. “That means so much to me. You are truly appreciated. It’s been a long journey, and you guys have been there each and every step of the way. And I really do appreciate that. Thank you so much. Insha’Allah. I will see you soon. I love you. Bye.”
Wondering why she used Insha’ Allah? Her husband, Wissam Al Mana is a muslim. Janet had to quit music in order to marry him in 2012. She also converted to Islam afterwards.
The singer had two failed marriages before this third union – James DeBarge 1984-1985 and Rene Elizondo 1991-2000.
