Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has accused Russia of using illegal migration into Europe to destabilise the bloc.
Speaking at a news conference in Finland yesterday, Ms Meloni said: “We have to understand the threat is much wider than we imagine.”
She went on to say that the danger to EU security from Russia or from elsewhere would not stop once the Ukraine conflict ended and the EU must be prepared for that.
“It’s about our democracy, it’s about influencing our public opinion, it’s about what happens in Africa, it’s about raw materials, it’s about the instrumentalisation of migration,” she added.
“We need to know it’s a very wide idea of security.”
She urged the EU to do more to protect its borders.
‘Mysterious’ fire breaks out at Russian drone warehouse
A fire has broken out at a Shahed drone warehouse in Russia’s western Tatarstan region, destroying drone parts worth $16m, Ukraine’s defence ministry reports.
The ministry has said on Telegram that the warehouse, which housed parts for the Shahed-136 unmanned aerial vehicles, had been “destroyed”.
“The mysterious destructive fire was another blow to the military-industrial complex of terrorist Russia,” the ministry said in a statement.
“The Ukrainian defence ministry’s general directorate of military intelligence reminds that there will be fair retribution for every war crime committed against the Ukrainian people.”
