Starmer calls for Israel and Lebanon to ‘pull back from the brink’

Sir Keir Starmer has called for de-escalation between Lebanon and Israel and a ceasefire in Gaza.

Addressing Labour’s annual conference, he says: “I call again for restraint and de-escalation at the border between Lebanon and Israel. Again, all parties to pull back from the brink.

He said he would deliver the same message at the UN General Assembly later.

Hezbollah announces use of new rocket

Hezbollah used a new rocket, Fadi 3, in an attack, the group has announced.

The target was an Israeli army base, it said.

It is unclear what the specifications of the Fadi 3 are, but the Fadi 2 carried a 170kg warhead and had a range of 100km, according to the Iranian news agency, Mehr.

This was an increase on the Fadi 1, which was equipped with an 83kg warhead and had a 70km range.
