Israeli airstrike hits UN refugee shelter in Gaza, kills 6 Palestinians

A top UN official has said six people were killed during military operations at a shelter in Khan Younis, southern Gaza, yesterday. 

Philippe Lazzarini, commissioner-general of the UN Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), said the shelter was one of the largest in Khan Younis. 

He said at least six people were killed and “many more injured”.

This morning, Israeli ground forces said they had “encircled” Khan Younis and carried out an “extensive operation”.
