Palestinians shot at by Israeli forces while waiting for aid – report
A report suggests at least 50 Palestinians have been killed after they were shot at by Israeli forces while they waited for food aid in Gaza.
The attacks hit a crowd of people waiting for food aid deliveries early this morning in Gaza City, according to Al Jazeera.
Footage posted online appears to show bodies being carried onto trucks.
The dead and wounded were reportedly taken to al Shifa Hospital in northern Gaza.
Hamas says it believes it is winning the war
The leader of Hamas has expressed confidence the Palestinian militant group is winning its war against Israel.
Yahya Sinwar, who has remained in hiding during the conflict, recently told senior Hamas officials in Qatar that his group “has the Israelis right where we want them”, according to the Wall Street Journal.
He also reportedly said Hamas was prepared for Israel’s expected operation in Rafah, the southernmost city in Gaza.
Hamas is relying on the high civilian death toll to cause enough global outcry that Israel is forced to withdraw, Sinwar said.
Israel says it has killed about 12,000 Hamas operatives since the start of the war.
