We reported a little earlier today on a statement from the armed wing of the Palestinian group Islamic Jihad, al Quds Brigades, which said it was prepared to free two Israeli hostages – a woman and a boy – for humanitarian and medical reasons.
It has now released a video showing an elderly woman in a wheelchair, Hanna Katzir, and a young boy, Yagil Yaakov.
In the video, the elderly woman said she missed her children and blamed Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu for “the mess”.
Both she and the boy say they are being treated well.
It was not clear whether they were speaking under duress.
“I hope I will manage to see you next week. We are happy and healthy and we want everyone to be happy,” she said.
The video is the third film of hostages to be released by Gaza militants, who have so far freed four captives.
The majority of the 242 people Israel said were taken hostage on 7 October are believed to be held by Hamas, but Islamic Jihad has previously said it held at least 30.
