IRGC commander killed in strike on Iranian city of Qom, IDF says

The IDF and the Israeli defence minister Israel Katz have said that an Israeli strike has killed a commander of the Palestine Corps in the Iranian Quds Force, a branch of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC).

The commader, Saeed Izadi, “funded and armed Hamas ahead of the October 7 massacre,” according to Katz. The IDF said in a statement that he was responsible for “military coordination” between Hamas and “senior commanders of the IRGC and the Iranian regime.”

Katz described it as “a huge achievement for Israeli intelligence and the Israeli Air Force.”

The strike was carried out in an apartment in the Iranian city of Qom. The deputy governor of Qom said that a child and two further people were killed as part of an attack on a residential building in the city, according to Iranian media.

The IRGC has not yet confirmed Izadi’s death.
