The Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps has confirmed four military advisers have been killed in a strike on Damascus, Syria, reported Iran’s state-run Press TV.
Revising the death toll up from two, they accused Israel of assassinating its members.
An IRG commander and one of his deputies were among those killed, according to Syrian state media.
A grocer near the scene of the strike said he heard five consecutive explosions at 10.15am.
He later saw the bodies of a man and a woman being taken away as well as three wounded people.
“The shop shook. I stayed inside for few seconds then went out and saw the smoke billowing from behind the mosque,” the man said.
