The Israel Defence Forces says it has carried out operations on the outskirts of the al Shati refugee camp.
The camp is in northern Gaza, just northwest of the al Shifa hospital – which dominated headlines over the weekend.

The IDF also said it targeted buildings located in “central government institutions in the heart of a civilian population, including schools, universities, mosques and activist homes”.
Hamas infrastructure was found “deliberately set up inside civilian buildings, such as al Quds University and the central mosque in Gaza, Abu Bakr, where the forces uncovered a large explosive area with many incendiary materials and explosives”, the IDF claimed.
“During the operation, the forces confiscated dozens of weapons, combat equipment and operative plans,” it added.
It also said it raided the home of a senior official of another Gaza-based group – Palestinian Islamic Jihad.
And, in, Beit Hanoun, IDF troops “located a tunnel shaft, intelligence materials of the terror organisation and weapons”, it said.
The IDF shared these images purporting to show the weapons it confiscated across the various operations, which – like the reports – are unverified.
