Ibrahimovic confirms Milan’s Walker interest

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has confirmed AC Milan’s continued interest in Manchester City’s Kyle Walker.

Walker has 18 months left on his current contract, but could leave this month with City unable to guarantee the 35-year-old remains first-choice right-back, or offer a length of deal that would suit him at this stage of his career.

AC Milan are keen to sign Walker and Ibrahimovic – now a senior advisor with the Serie A side – has talked up the prospect.

“Everyone knows he’s a great player; he’s done great things at City, at Tottenham, in England,” Ibrahimovic told Sky in Italy.

“Does it go against our strategy or vision? No, he’s strong, he’s a leader. We are checking what is possible or not possible to do.”

Milan have also been interested in Marcus Rashford, but that interest has cooled. Serie A rules dictate that only two non-EU players can be signed by any particular club each season, including one more from the UK or Albania.

A move to a top European club is currently preferable to Walker over any options in Saudi Arabia. Sky Sports News has been told there have been a number of approaches from clubs in the Saudi Pro League, but none have so far appealed to Walker.
