Jordi, 29, is currently facing a contract situation with Barca.

Although the former Valencia defender wants a renewal, he is insisting on equal pay with teammates Sergio Busquets and Gerard Pique—who are among the club’s highest earners.

Discussions on the contract terms are ongoing.

However, Jordi told newsmen after Barca’s triumph over Eibar that he has unwavering loyalty and love for the Spanish giants and will willingly stay if his services are needed.

‘I hope the deadlock is resolved before my contract ends in a year…The problem is that I don’t know what they [Barca] think…Yet, I must stay calm and do what I do best—play to win for the club,’ he said.

‘I love Barca and would love to stay. But it depends on them,’ the Spaniard added. He plays as a left-back for the Spain national team and Barcelona.

Jordi, who started his football career at Camp Nou, was released on loan after the club management deemed him “too small” for first team action. He played for Cornella and Valencia before returning in 2012 and has since won 13 major honors, including a Champions League trophy, 4 La Liga titles and 4 Copas del Rey.

Talking about the game against Eibar, he said: ‘It wasn’t a walkover…The game was complicated but we are happy to have earned the three points…Our performance was above average. I’d say that our attitude did it for us.

‘We feel inspired to have moved a bit forward on La Liga table. And this is why we are understandably excited…’

Jordi debuted for Spain in 2011 after scoring a goal in 23 games at the youth level. He played in the 2014 and 2018 World Cups.
