International attention on Ukraine is fading and attacks on civilian infrastructure in the country are becoming “normalized”, a major aid charity has warned.
The International Rescue Committee (IRC) said it is preparing for fewer donations towards its operations in Ukraine as the conflict rages on.
The charity received $40m (£31.8m) in funding for Ukraine operations last year – but so far in 2023 it has received almost less than half that.
Despite this, David Miliband, president and chief executive of the IRC, said there has been no reduction in the need for help.
“We know that the civilian deaths continue to be high,” he said.
“The levels of internal displacement continue to be record-breaking; the levels of refugees very high indeed.”
