Howe on transfer links: I won’t play anyone who isn’t committed

Newcastle head coach Eddie Howe says he won’t play anyone who isn’t 100 per cent committed amid speculation linking players away from the club.

Anthony Gordon is one of several big-name players who could leave Newcastle this summer, with English and European clubs circling over Sandro Tonali and Tino Livramento.

Asked whether he has had any conversations with Gordon over the transfer links, Howe said: “I discuss things with players all the time. I don’t necessarily discuss transfer speculation unless I feel it’s got to a point that I have to.

“After I had the chat with Sandro (Tonali), the biggest thing I look for is the commitment to training because if I see that the player will perform. That will be same with Anthony and every player.

“One thing I’m not going to do is play any player if I don’t feel they’re 100 per cent committed to the club and it’s future.

“I’m not talking about Anthony there, I am talking across the board.”
