Kemi Badenoch has reiterated calls for Angela Rayner to resign after “yet more evidence” emerged in the media around her tax row.
The Conservative leader was referring to allegations in the Telegraph that Rayner’s lawyers – at Verrico & Associates – did not offer tax advice over the purchase of a property in Hove.
The firm claimed they have been made “scapegoats”, the paper reports.
MEZIESBLOG understands Rayner initially consulted three people before buying the Hove flat – one individual experienced in conveyancing and two experts on the law around trusts.
However, it is not clear if they were experts in tax law.
Reacting to the latest claims, Badenoch said: “This is yet more damning evidence that Angela Rayner has not been honest with the British public.
“From the start we’ve had nothing but excuses, deflections and lies. Enough is enough.
“How many final straws can there be for Angela Rayner?
“She must resign or Sir Keir Starmer must finally find the backbone to sack her.”
