Sky Sports News’ Vinny O’Connor at Liverpool’s training ground:
“The appointment of a new head coach is going to be supplemented by activity in the transfer market.
“They want pace in the wide areas. That was something Liverpool were always looking to recruit and Iraola fits the bill with his style of management.
“It is very similar to what Jurgen Klopp delivered and more intense than what Arne Slot delivered.
“The fact they registered interest in [Yan] Diomande shows that this evolution isn’t just down to a managerial appointment.
“Arguably they need another number six to take some of the workload off of Ryan Gravenberch. Play two sixes at times, that’s certainly the way Iraola likes to play.
“You could argue they need to bring in more experience at centre-half to supplement the fact that [Jeremy] Jacquet will be 21 when the Premier League kicks off. [Giovanni] Leoni is also here.
“Whether they need to perhaps bring in another centre forward to back up the fact that [Hugo] Ekitike is still going to be out for a while. We know the injury problems Alexander Isak have had too. We expect Liverpool to move and we anticipate they have the cash to do so.”
