The heroic dog whose body is seen beside four dead cobras, was honored after it died fighting off the poisonous reptiles that were launching an attack on a family.

According to a report from Deccan Chronicle, the Doberman dog stood its ground against the killers and gained victory before succumbing to death.

The event occurred at Dibakar Raita‘s house in Sebekapur village under Raygada block of Gajapati district, India.

Raita confirms the snakes tried to sneak into his home in the early morning hours before his faithful dog challenged all four to a fight.

The family of eight said they noticed blood was spilling into their patio while the fight lasted.

“I’m shocked. He has made the supreme sacrifice for me and my family. I will remember him till our death. I pray God – May his soul rest in peace,” a very emotional Raita told reporters after the incident.

A very large number of people were said to have visited Raita’s home after the news spread across nearby villages.

Friends and well wishers also brought floral wreaths as the family observed burial rites before the hero dog was laid to rest.

The incident occurred in the Sebakpur village of India.
