After the deal was made public by Manchester United, the 27-year-old quickly sent this heartfelt message to the administration, coaching staff and fans at Borussia Dortmund.

Here’s the lovely letter from Mkhitaryan’s official Facebook page.

Liebe fans,
Dear friends,

I wanted to take this opportunity to thank everyone at Borussia Dortmund – from the administration to the coaching staff, my teammates and of course all the amazing fans – for the love and support you have given me in the past seasons. I will never forget the moments we shared together on and off the pitch over the last three years and I feel truly privileged to have represented such a great club and a great city.

When I think back to my roots and my father’s football career, I was taught to embrace new challenges and I felt that in order to honour my family’s legacy, I had to take this step in my career and join Manchester United.

Thank you you once more for all the memories. You will always have a special place in my heart.

With Love,
Micki

The Armenian is expected to team up with the Red Devils as they get ready for their pre-season tour to China.

Reports confirm that United’s new manager Jose Mourinho held a press conference during which he made the biggest revelation that former Dortmund player was about to join. He made reference to the three targets who he confirmed had already arrived.

However, The Special One thought he had made a mistake by revealing details before hand.

The news on Mkhitaryan was specially announced at the conference after Jose reconfirmed with his staff, if the final one was official.

Mkhitaryan, 27, made 140 appearances and scored 41 goals for Borussia Dortmund after joining them in 2013. Last season he scored 23 goals and registered an impressive 32 assists across all competitions. He was voted Bundesliga Player of the Season for 2015/16 in a poll of his fellow professionals, and he was named in the Team of the Season following votes by the players’ union in Germany, VDV.

Before the unveiling at Old Trafford, Henrikh posted this on his FaceBook page:

A Dream comes true!
I am very proud and excited to join Manchester United, a club which I have always admired for its great history and amazing fans. Can’t wait to work with the coach and my new teammates!

  1. Most teams wait for others to nuture players and they swoop on them with millions. Good for the poor clubs who need the money. If they keep developing talents, even without winning trophies, there’ll be so much money to make.
