Hamas reacts to ceasefire ultimatum

Donald Trump must remember that the only way to bring home Israeli prisoners is to respect the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, a senior Hamas official has said.

Last night, Trump said the Israel-Hamas ceasefire should be cancelled if all the hostages being held in Gaza are not released by noon on Saturday.

This came after Hamas said it would delay the release of hostages and accused Israel of violating the ceasefire.

If the hostages weren’t released as scheduled, Trump warned Hamas “all hell will break loose”.

In response this morning, Hamas official Sami Abu Zuhri said: “Trump must remember that there is an agreement that must be respected by both parties, and this is the only way to bring back the prisoners.

“The language of threats has no value and only complicates matters.”
