One of those current hot topics was Pep Guardiola’s future away from Manchester City. And Antonio Sanz spoke about that: “The national team that comes out more hurt from the World Cup, Brazil or England, is going to be the next place Pep Guardiola goes.” 

In response, Varela recalled that Carlo Ancelotti has just signed his renewal as Brazil coach for four years. “If Brazil crashes out at the World Cup, those four years are worth nothing,” Sanz said, warning of what could be a collapse by Vinicius, Raphinha and company.

“And why wouldn’t he be able to be Spain’s national team coach? It seems surreal to me that Guardiola is a foreigner in his own country”, said Varela after Raúl Fuentes’ reflection on Guardiola’s possible end as a club coach to take another step in his career by becoming a national team coach. In response, Jorge Liaño wanted to offer another option for Spain’s bench: “Unai Emery would be a better national team coach”.
