Hamas spokesman Osama Hamdan is now speaking.
He first addresses recent claims from the Israel Defence Forces spokesman Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari, who said Hamas was stockpiling weapons under the Sheikh Hamad Hospital in Gaza (see 7.15am post).
He denies this, saying holes Israel claimed were underground tunnel entrances were not being used by Hamas.
While there may not be tunnels there, Mr Hamdan says “thousands of our fighters are moving without them knowing”.
He also calls on the UN to inspect hospitals in Gaza to observe Israeli “war crimes” and see that there is no Hamas presence inside them.
He looks to a screen next to him, which has a photograph with the caption “Gaza Holocaust”, before he claims Israel has targeted Gaza’s civilians deliberately, destroying some 250,000 homes in the process.
“The army of the occupiers are targeting… women and children in the open, in the streets,” he says.
He turns to a graphic video, which he claims shows the results of an Israeli strike.
He says leaflets were distributed by Israel to Gaza civilians telling them to evacuate in order to make them come out of their homes and make them easier targets.
