Jose Mourinho reportedly held a secret meeting with the Real Madrid player’s agent and United’s Chief Ed Woodward. The parties met sometime last week in Manchester.

According to Daily Star, this 2016/17 might be the last for the 27-year-old in Spain, following his unwillingness to remain under Cristiano Ronaldo’s overbearing influence.

The tabloid confirmed that Mourinho and United’s Executive Vice-Chairman Ed Woodward held talks with Bale’s agent Jonathan Barnett.

A recent report from The Sun says it’s possible that Adidas will spearhead this transaction as it did for Paul Pogba, adding that the Portuguese coach has set a £100 million target for the Welsh international footballer.

Bale and Manchester United have sponsorship agreements with Adidas, just like Pogba.

In 2015, the Madrid striker signed a 10-year deal with the sportswear giants valued at £750 million
