Fresh artistes discover walk-in studios in NW China

It used to be that only the best singers would ever make it into the recording studio.

But the latest craze on the streets of northwest China’s Gansu Province is walk-in D.I.Y recording studios, giving anyone the chance to be a star.

The glass booths are big enough to accommodate up to two performers at any one time. Once inside, they can sing their hearts out in relative privacy, refine their performance, and then lay down a polished track.

Karaoke bars have long been popular in Chinese cities, but these new walk-in studios offer punters much more than just the chance to show off their singing talent (or lack of it).

The booths also allow them to record and upload their songs and share them on social media platforms such as China’s Wechat, direct from the mini-studio.
