Former U.S. Army Secretary Ryan McCarthy Wilkie has argued that recent U.S. military strikes have significantly disrupted Iran’s nuclear programme, saying the operation dealt a major blow to Tehran’s ability to rapidly advance its nuclear ambitions.

Speaking during an interview on Newsmax, Wilkie said the attacks had undermined years of Iranian nuclear development and demonstrated Washington’s willingness to use military force to prevent the country from acquiring a nuclear weapon.

Commenting on the impact of the strikes, Wilkie said:

“Iran’s nuclear program has been set back dramatically. What took decades to build cannot be restored overnight.”

He maintained that the operation had sent a strong message not only to Iran but also to other countries pursuing nuclear capabilities in defiance of international pressure.

Wilkie also praised President Donald Trump for authorising the military action, arguing that the administration had shown decisive leadership in confronting what he described as a major security threat.

He said:

“President Trump demonstrated strength and resolve by making it clear that the United States will not allow Iran to obtain a nuclear weapon.”

Addressing concerns about the possibility of further escalation in the Middle East, Wilkie expressed hope that the strikes would instead strengthen deterrence and encourage Iran to reconsider its nuclear ambitions.

According to him:

“Peace comes through strength. When America’s adversaries understand there are consequences for their actions, the chances of broader conflict are reduced.”

He also said the operation had reinforced confidence among U.S. allies in the region, noting that America’s willingness to act decisively would reassure partners concerned about Iran’s military capabilities.
