Former Nissan boss facing charges of aggravated breach of trust

New charges are expected to be filed against former Nissan Chairman Carlos Ghosn, as early as next week.

Ghosn remains in custody in prison in Tokyo after his arrest in November.

Japan’s sole public broadcasting network NHK reported Friday Ghosn would be indicted on new charges on Monday.

Prosecutors are believed to have formalised charges of aggravated breach of trust, related to money laundering in the Middle East.

The filing of charges on Monday is expected as that is the day his current detention order expires. Fresh charges need to be filed to allow prosecutors to continue to detain him in custody.

Ghosn maintains he is innocent of all charges and denies any wrongdoing.
