In a tragic incident, a 26-year-old woman driving down a Milwaukee highway was shot dead by a child in the backseat.
A report from the police says, the 3-year-old toddler got his or her hands on a gun an might have been playing with it before the shots were fired. It’s unclear hot the kid got hold of the firearm.
The Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement that the unidentified woman was pronounced dead on scene after deputies got the call of a crash around 10:30 a.m. Tuesday on Highway 175 southbound near Vliet Street.
“Initial witness accounts indicate that a child in the back seat of the vehicle got ahold of a gun and discharged the firearm, sending a single bullet into the driver’s back,” the department said in a statement.
“The MCSO investigation into the death is on-going.”
According to the report, the location of the shooting is only a few distance north of Miller Park, the baseball stadium for the Milwaukee Brewers.
This incident is similar to the one that occurred about 2 months ago when a mother from Florida was shot in the back by her 4-year-old son who found a loaded gun in the back seat.
