Everton Agree £40m Deal for Monaco Striker Folarin Balogun

David Moyes finally lands his summer target as the USA international prepares for a move to Merseyside

Everton have reached an agreement with AS Monaco for the transfer of striker Folarin Balogun, Meziesblog understands, with the former Arsenal forward heading to the Hill Dickinson Stadium in a deal worth £40m.

The 25-year-old US international has attracted interest from multiple clubs throughout the summer window, but Everton have won the race for his signature. Personal terms are already in place in principle, and Balogun is now expected to become David Moyes’ latest attacking addition.

Meziesblog had revealed earlier on Monday that Everton were in advanced talks with Monaco and that an initial bid had been rejected. However, negotiations continued and a breakthrough was reached, with the French club agreeing to sell after bringing in Matthis Abline from Nantes. Monaco also needed to free up space within their squad to accommodate another non-EU player.

To make room for Balogun, Everton have finalised an agreement with Fiorentina for Beto to return to Italy. The Portuguese striker is now set to complete his move to Florence, clearing the path for Balogun to arrive on Merseyside.

The Toffees are also involved in another major piece of business, with Iliman Ndiaye set to join Manchester City in a £65m deal. That transfer will see Jack Grealish move in the opposite direction, returning to Everton. And the attacking overhaul may not stop there – Meziesblog understands that Tottenham and Everton have opened talks over Richarlison, raising the possibility of the Brazilian returning to the club where he made his name before moving to Spurs.

For now, though, Balogun is the headline arrival. Everton have their new number nine, with a £40m deal agreed and personal terms already in place.
