Yvette Cooper is the latest person to respond to Donald Trump’s claims that Europe is “decaying” and has “weak” leaders.

Asked about the US president’s comments by journalists, the UK foreign secretary pointed to the work of the coalition of the willing: 

“What I see in Europe is strength: The strength and commitment to the support for Ukraine and also strength to step up to the plate and to ensure that we are increasing our investment in defence, and also ensure that we are doing our bit through the coalition of the willing, as well as through investment in military support and the energy infrastructure support that Ukraine needs.”

Cooper announced at the same news conference that the UK would sanction several entities involved in spreading Russian misinformation on the war in Ukraine.

The seven sanctioned entities and individuals include Russian military Telegram channel Rybar and Russian philosopher Aleksandr Dugin, sometimes dubbed as ‘Putin’s brain’.
