Turkey expects the International Court of Justice to rule Israel has committed genocide in Gaza, its president Tayyip Erdogan says. 

Speaking to reporters in Istanbul, Mr Erdogan says Turkey is closely following the ruling and is expecting a “positive outcome”.

Turkey has harshly criticised Israel for its attacks on the enclave. 

This afternoon, the ICJ will decide whether emergency measures should be implemented in Gaza as part of the genocide case brought against Israel by South Africa. 

Israel has denied committing genocide in Gaza and has asked the court to throw out the case.
