Reports from ABCNews confirm that travelers have been notified of an unavoidable delay. No time has been fixed for flights so there’ll be an extended waiting time at airports worldwide.

Reuters reported that ” technicians were working to resolve the computer problem as soon as possible” adding that Delta Airlines said, “flights scheduled for departure were not taking off, but those already in the air were operating normally”.

Delta’s official Twitter account has tendered apologies to everyone affected by this development.

@seguifox13 @Delta good morning Delta, I fly weekly on your carrier. Will I depart on time from SRQ at 0655am?

@kevinsrq23 @seguifox13 HI there Kevin, unfortunately all flights are grounded due to a system outage nationwide. Hopefully it won’t… 1/2

As can be seen from these tweets, the waiting time may be longer than expected. It’s yet unknown when the computer will be restored for flight operations.

@Delta GM. Can you please confirm system outage this morning? Thank you!

@foxnewsgal Yes Lisa and we’re currently working to resolve the issue. *AD

The company has therefore, warned all customers to check the status of their flights before heading to the airports.

“Delta has experienced a computer outage that has affected flights scheduled for this morning,” the statement said.

“Flights awaiting departure are currently delayed. Flights en route are operating normally. Delta is advising travelers to check the status of their flights this morning while the issue is being addressed.”
