Cristiano Ronaldo was sent off in his first Champions League match for Juventus but his sister, a die-hard fan of the Portugal international player, says the red card was “a shame” to football development.

The complainant, Katia Aveiro, says Ronaldo’s “enemies” are out to destroy him.

‘It’s a proof that he [Ronaldo] is facing a clique of top football administrators who have evil intents,’ Katia said.

Ronaldo’s painful outing against Valencia started in the 29th minute when he confronted Jeison Murillo for an alleged foul inside the 18-yard box.

Andujar Oliver (the officiating referee) watched Ronaldo, who went over to caution Murillo but appeared to have pulled at the Valencia player’s hair.

After consulting Felix Brych (assistant referee), Oliver reached for his red card and showed Ronaldo the way out.

‘He swiped at the Valencia player and then pulled his hair,’ Oliver told Marca in a post-match interview. Ronaldo cried in frustration and theatrically delayed his exit from the pitch.

‘That was a big shame for football…Justice will be done,’ Katia shared on social media. ‘They are out to destroy my brother’s career, but God never sleeps.

‘They will surely pay his tears.’

‘They wish to bring you down,’ Katia referred to Ronaldo, ‘but they won’t succeed.’

The red card was Ronaldo’s 11th and his first in Champions League.

Although the Serie A champions extracted all three points from Valencia thanks to two spot kicks converted by Miralem Pjanic, it was Juve goalkeeper, Neto, who got the loudest ovation for keeping a clean sheet with four saves in the away game, including a penalty from Mestella’s Dani Parejo.
