Chelsea fans excited about Aston Villa’s interest in Tammy Abraham

Aston Villa are looking to continue their summer recruitment after the signing of Emi Buendia under Arsenal’s noses with a £40 million swoop for Tammy Abraham.

The England international has fallen down the pecking order under Thomas Tuchel after playing a key role at the start of the season under Frank Lampard.

Abraham’s star has waned to such an extent at Stamford Bridge that the striker was not even among the substitutes for either the FA Cup or Champions League final.

Villa could face a challenge from West Ham for Abraham although the Hammers are believed to not be willing to stretch to £40m for the striker.

If Chelsea can bring in a fee in the region of £40m it would go some way to helping them bring in Norwegian goal machine Erling Haaland, the man who has become their summer transfer priority.

Blues fans are split on the news academy graduate Abraham could be departing the club with many pointing out Chelsea’s history of wanting to bring back former players and others worried it leaves the club short up front with the possible departure of Olivier Giroud factored into account.

Haaland is expected to cost north of £100 m if Chelsea can get a deal done for the Borussia Dortmund star so offloading a player Tuchel rarely uses for a fee in the region of £40m is understandable despite some fans reservations.

West Ham and Villa are keen to strengthen their attacking areas and Abraham fits the bill perfectly for both clubs.
