Cameroon Strikes Fuel Supply Deal with Dangote Refinery and MRS Oil

Cameroon has signed an agreement with Nigeria’s Dangote Group and Lagos-based MRS Oil & Gas Company to secure refined petroleum products, as the country moves to shore up its fuel security.

State-owned refiner Sonara said the deal establishes a partnership aimed at providing Cameroon with a stable and sustainable supply of petroleum products. The arrangement comes as fuel costs climb amid geopolitical tensions in the Middle East.

Cameroon has relied entirely on imported refined products since 2019, when an explosion damaged its only refinery and forced it to suspend operations. Sonara said a ceremony to formally launch the partnership was postponed due to last-minute scheduling constraints involving Dangote Group President Aliko Dangote.
