BREAKING: Foreign Affairs minister Tuggar resigns from Tinubu’s govt

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, has resigned from President Bola Tinubu’s cabinet.

Former presidential aide Bashir Ahmad confirmed Tuggar’s exit in a post on his X account on Monday.

The minister reportedly submitted his resignation on Monday. The letter is expected to be read at the Federal Executive Council, FEC, meeting.

He is billed to contest the Bauchi gubernatorial election in 2027.

“The Foreign Affairs Minister, Yusuf Tuggar, will bid farewell to the Federal Executive Council today as he steps down from his position to pursue the governorship of Bauchi State,” Ahmad wrote on X.

However, Tuggar has yet to issue an official statement on his resignation as of the time of filing this report.

Tuggar’s resignation comes barely hours before the deadline set by President Tinubu, who directed his appointees seeking elective positions in the 2027 general election to resign on or before March 31, 2026.
